Italian media claim that Nesta will undergo surgery later this week in a bid to finally to resolve his back problems. The Corriere dello Sport reports that Milan central defender Alessandro Nesta visited Professor Maurizio Fornari yesterday afternoon to seek medical advice regarding his chronic injury problems. Fornari is the same surgeon that advised Nesta to stay clear of the operating room last July, when his back problems started tormenting him again. But, according to the newspaper, the ex-Lazio defender has now been told that surgery will be inevitable if he is to stand any chance of resuming his career. There are still details that need to be sorted out this morning, but the surgery should be performed by Professor Fornari at the La Madonnina clinic over the next few days. Nesta was expected to be at Carlo Ancelotti’s disposal for the derby against Inter, but he suffered a relapse of his problem on Wednesday. Vince Masiello, Goal.com
