Milan leave Siena with a draw: the Rossoneri, who were behind until the 90th minute, found an equaliser in injury time. It was Nesta who found the right spark with a great right-footed shot that made it 1-1. In the final minute, Seedorf hit the crossbar. The sense that against Siena it would be a tough match, had already surfaced in the hours preceding the encounter. Andrea Mandorlini's team, still on 0 points in the standings after the matches against Sampdoria and Roma, perhaps underservedly, were very eager to get a result. The determination announced in the words found its confirmation on the pitch. Siena were a determined and gritty opponent from the first minute to the last, an attitude that earned them the first point in the standings. Milan, who were behind almost until the very end, managed to equalise in injury, thanks to a great goal by a great Alessandro Nesta. The defender found the winning strike when it was almost too late and allowed Milan to leave Tuscany at least with a draw. After a difficult first half, the Rossoneri even ended up recriminating: Siena's goal came from a probable offside position by Maccarone, and especially, Seedorf hit the crossbar in the final seconds of the match with a free kick. Milan did well to believe until the end, managing to interpret a match in which they were not brilliant, but at least played with intelligence until the final whistle from referee Banti. The Rossoneri did not lose heart, even when it seemed to be just one of those days, and, without Kaká, Pirlo, and Oddo who remained at Milanello to recover from their exploits with the National teams, and without the longer-term absentees Ronaldo and Maldini, managed to find a deserved goal. Which does not give Milan the three points and the lead in the standings, but at least allows them not to return home with the first, undeserved, defeat of the season. No first defeat and no first game without a goal: all thanks to Sandro, someone not used to scoring but to prevent the opposition from doing so. Other than the usual fine defensive performance, Nesta managed to find the goal that tied the score for Milan, in what turned out to be the second consecutive draw after the one against Fiorentina. It's impossible not to notice the state of form he is in right now: Nesta started the season brilliantly, and managed to score his first goal since 9 April 2006 (Milan-Chievo 4-1). Two years later, here is Sandro again. Too bad about that crossbar hit by Seedorf in the last kick of the game. Perhaps it would have been too much to ask. It finishes 1-1 and now Milan have three days to think about the Champions League and Benfica. ACMilan.com
