The back problem which has tormented him seems to have gone...

Milan defender Alessandro Nesta will be back in Milan on Thursday morning after spending time in Miami to cure his on-going back injury.

The former Lazio captain has been out of action for most of the season, and he travelled to the United States to help his recovery. There were fears that he needed surgery, but that is highly unlikely as Nesta has reassured both club and fans that all is well.

The stopper didn't reveal much and what he said was limited, nevertheless, it's good news for Milan.

"I am packing my suitcases," Nesta told Radio Radio TV.

"I am fine, all is well."

The defender's return will be a massive boost for the Rossoneri as they have been struggling at the back recently. Philippe Sendero ... Read more »

The French defender may join the Rossoneri from Roma, as Nesta struggles to recover from injury.

Alessandro Nesta is struggling to shake off his chronic back problem. Even if he is able to improve his current condition, a relapse is a distinct possibility, making defensive cover is a very important consideration for Milan.

Unfortunately, latest reports indicate that Nesta is not improving and he could be forced to retire, which would be a harsh blow to both club and player.

The Rossoneri have managed to capture one of the best young defensive prospects in Thiago Silva, but the Brazilian is unable to play for the club until the end of the season due to Milan having filled their quota of non-EU players for the season, forcing the Milan giants to search the market and perhaps swoop ... Milan star Alessandro Nesta could be set for a return to the pitch in February 2009...

Milan defender Alessandro Nesta has been hampered by several injuries during his career. The latest was a serious back ailment that nearly ended the ex-Lazio man's playing days. However, it appears he could make his return to the pitch in February.

The 32-year-old left for Miami on November 7 to undergo rehibilitation so that he could recover and hopefully return to the field in the near future. The fears that his career were over have been alleviated and he is now planning his return to the Rossoneri despite missing his goal of joining his teammates for their retreat in Dubai.

Nesta has been undergoing four hours of exercise and therapy per day and his physiotherapists believe he could return ... Read more »

With injuries galore in their creaking backline, the Rossoneri are set to make a January move for the Italy national team captain…

Andriy Shevchenko, Kaka, Ronaldinho – these are the three Ballon d’Or winners already at Milanello. Soon though there could be a fourth, if a report in the Corriere dello Sport can be believed.

The Rossoneri have had problems in defence all season. Star stopper Alessandro Nesta has not played this term due to injury, Paolo Maldini is 40 and needs regular rest, while the rest of the backline has largely failed to impress.

With recent signing Thiago Silva ineligible until next season, the Corriere claims that Milan are looking to bring in Italy national team captain and legend Fabio Cannavaro next month.

Cannavaro has been at Real Madrid since joining from Juventus in the aftermath of the Calciopoli crisis in 2006, but his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu runs out at the end of the season.

Milan have closed the gap on Serie A leaders Inter to one point after a comfortable 1-0 win over Chievo at San Siro, a victory clinched by a controversial Kaka penalty

Milan 1-0 Chievo

Team News & Build-Up

Milan had lost their spot at the top of Serie A last week when they conceded a last-gasp equaliser at Lecce and, with new leaders Inter beating Palermo last night, they knew a win against Chievo at San Siro today was vital to close the gap on their city rivals to one point.

The Rossoneri still had injury problems as Pirlo, Nesta, Maldini, Borriello, Ambrosini, and Antonini were all out. Kaka and Ronaldinho supported lone frontman Pippo Inzaghi, while Gianluca Zambrotta was only fit enough to start on the bench.

Chievo were second from bottom in the table and, ... Read more »

According to Tuttosport, Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille are eager to land Milan’s injury-ravaged centre-back Alessandro Nesta.

The former Lazio stalwart has yet to play a competitive match this season for the Rossoneri as he keeps struggling with a back problem.

He made a brief appearance in a charity friendly in Albania on October 14 and seemed on track to return to action, but the pain has flared up again and it is still unclear as to when Carlo Ancelotti will be able to count on the strong defender.

The ex-Azzurri man has now returned to Florida, where he has a holiday home, to continue his recovery process.

But in spite of all his fitness issues, Alessandro still keeps drawing interest from other sides, as OM President Pape Diouf has hinted.
