| Milan debate Cassano bid Milan transfer guru Adriano Galliani has left the door open for Ronaldinho, Andriy Shevchenko and admitted the squad must vote on whether to welcome Antonio Cassano. The Rossoneri thought they had signed their new striker when a £10m deal was struck with Cagliari, but David Suazo insisted on joining their arch rivals Inter, so the search is back on. “I will not disturb other clubs,” he told Sky Italia. “I spoke with Barcelona’s top director after the President, who is Feran Soriano, but at the moment Ronaldinho and Samuel Eto’o are not for sale.” Nonetheless, Galliani is keeping his hopes up, as the arrival of Thierry Henry could squeeze the Brazilian out of the Nou Camp. “We will see. We are keeping our doors open and have a free non-EU member place because Kaka got married and now has an Italian passport.” One of the other players earmarked for that spot was Shevchenko, who would welcome a return to San Siro just a year after his troubled £30m move to Chelsea. The reports of another bid were fuelled when Sheva met with Paolo Maldini as both were on holiday in Miami. “I am getting all sorts of information,” confessed Galliani. “When it comes to Shevchenko, we have to understand if there is a possibility of the transfer and at what price, but here as well Chelsea said no. “He is also a non-EU member, but we have a place and are open to taking in any striker from any nationality in the world.” That includes an Italian, so over the past few days Milan have come out into the open with their interest in Real Madrid misfit Cassano. “Cassano is a player that I would like, but we all have to agree on the matter. I like him because it would be a fascinating challenge. He certainly doesn’t lack talent, so perhaps he would flourish in an environment like Milan, who knows?” Former Roma starlet Cassano is notorious for his temperament and has had several bust-ups with Coaches at club and international level, including Fabio Capello and Gigi Del Neri. It is reported that the Rossoneri will have a vote inside the locker room and among the Coaching staff before deciding whether to make a firm bid for the volatile player. “We are working hard at the moment on cutting down the size of the squad and have already found placements for 11 of the 12 players who will be leaving this summer. The only one still to go is goalkeeper Marco Storari, who will certainly find the best place for him.” Another of Milan’s shot-stoppers, Ferdinando Coppola, has been loaned out to Atalanta after spending last season at Piacenza.

| Berlusconi: Bring me Adriano! Milan President Silvio Berlusconi admits Andriy Shevchenko is too expensive, but publicly asks Inter for Adriano! The patron has never disguised his fondness for Sheva, even after the £30m move to Chelsea leaving the door wide open for a surprise comeback. “Shevchenko is always in first place for me, but Roman Abramovich is asking too much. Shevchenko would have no problem in returning to us and I am convinced he would be the ideal partner for Ronaldo.” “Our fans must relax. We will get a great player, but without rushing it, as it is important to have patience,” said the patron after missing out on David Suazo to rivals Inter. “Cagliari offered us Suazo, then when we discovered it was not possible to sign him, we stepped aside and refused to put obstacles in Inter’s path.” The good rapport between the two ‘cugini’ could also see a shock summer transfer, as Suazo’s arrival pushes Adriano out of the Nerazzurri squad. Could Milan swoop for the unsettled hitman? “If only! I have always liked Adriano a great deal and think that he would be at ease at Milan among all the Brazilians we have here,” smiled Berlusconi. “Milan are a huge family and being here would give him the opportunity to express himself at his best, just as Ronaldo already has.” This is not the first time that the thought of Adriano wearing the Rossoneri jersey has crossed the front pages, but Berlusconi takes it a step further. “With what happened recently I’m not sure if it will be possible, as I called Massimo Moratti to organise a friendly match so Milan and Inter could celebrate their success together, but we haven’t been able to find a date yet. “Having said that, I repeat that I would very much like Adriano at Milan if we could reach an agreement with Inter.” Other candidates for the forward role include Samuel Eto’o and Ronaldinho, but Barcelona have stated the pair are not for sale. “I also want to remind fans that we already have an important new player – Ronaldo can now compete for us in the Champions League.” Meanwhile, Milan are closing in on former Juventus and Roma midfielder Emerson, who will not be needed at Real Madrid after Fabio Capello’s dismissal. The Brazilian, known as ‘Puma’, has reportedly already been in negotiations with the Rossoneri for some time and finally got the all-clear to leave Madrid.

| Pato agent in Milan The agent of teenage sensation Alexandre Pato is in Milan for talks with both San Siro clubs, although Chelsea also want the Brazilian. Representative Gilmar Veloz flew in to Milan this morning for negotiations, as 17-year-old Pato has set the transfer market alight with his performances for Internacional. He has already won the Copa Libertadores and FIFA World Club Championship and was a star of the Under-20 South American Championship, won by Brazil in January. “Pato is a young player, very young, but we are not the only important club who like him,” noted Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti on Friday. Inter are also preparing a firm £17m bid for what many have referred to as ‘the new Kaka’, but Chelsea are in the frame too.

| Friendlies: Pippo shoots down Juve Pippo Inzaghi’s brace handed Milan the prestigious Trofeo Berlusconi in a 2-0 victory over old rivals Juventus at San Siro. The 17th edition of this friendly tournament at San Siro was without the injured Kaka, Ronaldo, Tiago Mendes and David Trezeguet, so Clarence Seedorf started in the Trequartista role for the Rossoneri. After three minutes Zdenek Grygera did well to tackle the Dutchman inside the area. The Turin giants were immediately aggressive with Vincenzo Iaquinta brought down by Kakha Kaladze on the edge of the box and Sergio Almiron drilling just wide. Milan also pushed forward, as Massimo Oddo set up Pippo Inzaghi’s diving header to bring a great save out of Gianluigi Buffon. Alessandro Del Piero had a fantastic chance when he ran on to Pavel Nedved’s pass and put two defenders on the ground, but Kaladze bravely flung himself at the shot. Antonio Nocerino’s strike was also deflected off target. An Andrea Pirlo free kick fell to Inzaghi, who was closed down by a desperate Domenico Criscito tackle, and Oddo hit a first-time finish over. The old Milan problems continued, as Inzaghi and Alberto Gilardino often crossed paths and held each other up. Nocerino has been impressive in pre-season, but his error sent Inzaghi clear and Buffon smothered the strike. Buffon was not so prepared soon after, as Inzaghi’s splendid glancing header at the near post turned in Massimo Ambrosini’s cross from the left. The Juventus defence made a mess of this situation, as Jorge Andrade and Criscito lost sight of SuperPippo in his first start since the Champions League Final in Athens. Del Piero’s confidence was at an all-time high, as he repeatedly dribbled past sets of Rossoneri defenders, including a nutmeg on Oddo. Both Coaches made changes at the break. Claudio Ranieri appears to have abandoned the experiment of Tiago Mendes alongside Sergio Almiron, as it proved very disappointing, so he fielded the former Chelsea midfielder with Nocerino instead. Within 58 seconds Milan had doubled their lead with Inzaghi yet again. A corner kick was flicked on by Gilardino to the back post for Inzaghi to come sliding in. Nedved’s acrobatic volley went wide from a corner at the other end and an equally spectacular Seedorf attempt was held by Buffon, but Andrade was booked for trying to punch the ball into the net. Nelson Dida parried Del Piero’s free kick and substitute Daniele Bonera slipped in a one-on-one with Raffaele Palladino, but Del Piero’s fantastic turn between two defenders was eventually closed down by a third. Nedved’s volley at the back post whistled just wide when he only had the goalkeeper to beat and he turned another effort off target. The San Siro field was slippery, as Buffon stumbled and, as Gilardino went round him, the Milan striker lost his footing as well in a shoulder-to-shoulder battle with Nocerino. Juve’s best opportunity came in the final minutes, as Tiago unleashed a fierce strike that Dida fingertipped over the crossbar. The Brazilian goalkeeper also plucked a Nedved attempt out of the air. Milan 2-0 Juventus Scorers: Inzaghi 44, 46 (M) Milan: Dida; Oddo (Cafu 46), Nesta (Bonera 66), Kaladze (Digao 87), Favalli (Serginho 46); Gattuso (Brocchi 46), Pirlo, Ambrosini; Seedorf; Inzaghi (Gourcuff 57), Gilardino Juventus: Buffon; Grygera, Andrade, Criscito, Molinaro; Salihamidzic (Olivera 66), Nocerino, Almiron (Tiago 46), Nedved; Del Piero, Iaquinta (Palladino 46) Ref: Banti

| Ancelotti nitpicks Rossoneri Carlo Ancelotti may have won the Trofeo Berlusconi, but he’s still far from satisfied with Milan’s performance. “We didn’t do very well,” he said after the 2-0 victory over Juventus at San Siro in this traditional encounter. “We were not linear enough. I imagine it is mainly due to the strain of the pre-season training regime. It has nothing to do with the tactical system, having one or two strikers, as it is all a matter of pace right now.” Pippo Inzaghi was certainly not feeling the pressure of his first start since the Champions League Final, as he bagged a brace to defeat his former Bianconeri teammates. Ancelotti – another Juventus old boy – had kinder words for Claudio Ranieri’s squad. “They are a quality side and very organised. They are still testing out their movements and can have a great season.” Milan have won the last three Trofeo Berlusconi editions on the trot and now lead with nine victories to Juve's eight.

| Galliani rejects Emerson terms Adriano Galliani admits Milan are keeping the door open for Emerson, but not at the conditions Real Madrid have set. The two clubs have been locked in negotiations for weeks over the midfielder, but earlier this week the Rossoneri announced on their official website that the deal was off. “It is very difficult to see Emerson at Milan, but I do not feel I can exclude anything,” said general manager Galliani ahead of last night’s 2-0 Trofeo Berlusconi win over Juventus. “I can tell you that at the conditions put forward by Real Madrid President Ramon Calderon, he is 100 per cent certain not to arrive. If Emerson does not come, then we won’t sign anyone else.” Thiago Motta had been named as a potential alternative, but the Barcelona player is no longer on their wish-list. “Motta was an option, but with Ancelotti we had identified Emerson as the right player for us. If Real Madrid’s economic demands change, then we are interested in him. We will wait until August 31.” A deal to agree a loan spell with an option to buy at the end of the season was almost struck when the Spaniards changed their minds to an £8m permanent move. There are rumours that the reason Real have suddenly raised the price-tag is because rivals Inter have made a counter-offer for the former Juventus and Roma star. “I don’t know and do not want to stir up any controversy with our ‘cousins’,” said Galliani on ‘Sky Italia.’ “There is talk, but there is a lot of that in football. I can’t say for sure.” Another report is that Madrid are trying to cause problems for Milan after their refusal to negotiate for Kaka. “I think the motive is purely economic and I cannot start considering other reasons. Calderon knows that for Kaka it is an eternal ‘no’. They will have to resign themselves to the fact he is our player.”

| Milan Seal 5 Million Emerson Deal After FIFA agent Ernesto Bronzetti managed to smooth the way this morning, AC Milan and Real Madrid agreed a 5 million euro price for Emerson. Emerson's move to Milan has now become official, with vice-president Adriano Galliani declaring on the club's website: "Milan communicate that they have signed Emerson from Real Madrid on a permanent basis." The on-again, off-again move has finally been completed after work from agent Erneto Bronzetti. FIFA-licensed Bronzetti managed this morning managed to convince Madrid to sell the Brazilian to Milan for a fee of 5 million euros. Originally, Madrid president Ramon Calderon wanted a higher sum in exchange for the out-of-favour Brazilian. Milan have been looking to reinforce their midfield ever since the Moscow tournament, in which they drew against PSV and went down 3-1 against Lokomotiv before coming back to draw 3-3 in a rather end-to-end game. It was evident there that the midfield did not have the depth required of a top team - not enough quality to suitably replace the likes of Pirlo, Gattuso, and Seedorf. Emerson and Barcelona's Thiago Motta had been the two names doing the rounds and, while the latter seems to be staying at the Nou Camp for now, the former is finally a Rossonero... and about time, too. Madrid president Ramon Calderon marked Emerson's Bernabeu exit earlier this summer, earmarking the former Juventus man as one of the transfer-listed players. Emerson, also known as "The Puma", only arrived in Madrid last summer following Juventus' relegation, and cost the club 16 million euros. Goal.com

| Kaka: Now Let's Think About Sevilla The Brazilian midfielder proved that he's already reached a very good physical condition in this early part of the season. Milan kicked-off their new season with an important and impressive 3-0 win away to Genoa at the Marassi stadium, with Ricky Kaka being the man of the match with two goals and a lot of good movements. "I'm in form," admitted the Brazilian star, "But now let's thinking about Sevilla." The Rossoneri will be facing the Spanish side, which won for the second consecutive year the Uefa Cup trophy, on Friday at Monaco in a game which Milan want to win to increase the number of silverware. "We're in form right now, just like Sevilla, who won yesterday. I'm fine too, but I must still improve in the sprint." With regards to yesterday's match, Kaka hopes that everything will go back to normal between the Genoa and Milan fans, and that in future there will not be the need to restrict the entrance to one set of fans. "I hope that our fans can make peace with the Genoa ones," concluded Kaka. Goal.com

| Milan Already Gearing Up For Supercup Final The Rossoneri are rounding up their players for the upcoming Supercup final against Sevilla in Montecarlo, with only Maldini and Ronaldo unavailable through injury. Without even having the time to fully celebrate the convincing opening Serie A win at Genoa (3-0), Milan already have to start preparing for the match in Montecarlo against Sevilla on Friday night, which will assign the European Supercup, the first major objective for the Via Turati club. Massimo Ambrosini will be a part of the game, as the results of today's x-ray exams were satisfactory. It's probable that new purchase Emerson will also be called up, considering that he took part in today's 7-a-side match. It's a different matter for Ronaldo, who seems to be on his way toward a full recovery, but he was still training on his own today along with an athletic preparator. Captain Paolo Maldini is not fit yet and will certainly not be called up, but for the rest coach Carlo Ancelotti has a full squad available for this mouth-watering clash between the European champions and the Uefa Cup winners. The Rossoneri and Sevilla both made winning starts to the new league season, as Sevilla also got a big win, defeating Getafe 4-1 at home last weekend. Goal.com

| Gilardino Plays Down Transfer Talk AC Milan striker Alberto Gilardino insists that he is unfazed by the persistent rumours tipping him for a departure from the San Siro. The 25-year-old has yet to fully live up to the sky-high expecations that were placed on his shoulders following his high profile arrival from Parma in 2005, which has prompted consistent rumours that Milan are looking to offload him. "I'm used to it by now," revealed the Italian international. "At Parma, there was always transfer talk because people wanted me to join a big club. Now I'm a Milan player and there's transfer talk for other reasons. "But for now, I am doing my talking on the pitch," he added: "I am now more centred. I've learned to separate my true friends from the hangers on. I have grown, matured. "If people want to boo me, so be it. I know the true fans of Milan are those that cheer us from the first minute to the last." Speaking after his side's impressive 3-0 victory away to Genoa on Sunday, Gila also took time to shed light on his opinion on the Scudetto race. "Milan are as strong as Inter. Then there is also Roma. After that, you must look at Juventus and Fiorentina. It will be an open championship, rich in emotion." Goal.com Kaka To Sign New Milan Contract Real Madrid's dreams of luring Kaka away from AC Milan in the near future have been hit by the news that contract renewal talks are underway. The Brazilian megastar made the revelation himself, shortly after he was yet again instrumental for side during their impressive 3-0 win to begin the Serie A season. "We are discussing about my renewal: neither I nor Milan are in a rush," announced the 25-year-old, who has been an enormous hit with the Milan fans since arriving from Sao Paolo in 2203. "Since the time I arrived, five years ago, for me it seems a century," he added. "I have changed everything about me, training, country, soccer, diet, tactics." "And in Milan I have known people like Maldini and Costacurta that have passed the Milan mentality to me." AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani also spoke of Kaka's situation at the San Siro, although in more general terms. "Kaka has never has been up for sale," he insisted. "I hope this is the end of it and the story does not recommence next year." Kaka scored twice during the season opener, and Rossoneri boss Carlo Ancelotti sees no reason why their fantasista could not emulate his Champions League scoring-leader feat in the Serie A. "I was thinking after the game that it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he finished as 'capocannoniere'", said Ancelotti. "He has a lot of quality to be able to achieve the aims he wants." Goal.com

| Oddo Impressed By Roma The Milan player believes that the Giallorossi will be competing for the league title and have every chance of winning the Scudetto at the end of this season. Massimo Oddo is ready to bet on Roma as title challengers following their impressive 2-0 win at Palermo on Sunday evening in the first matchday of Serie A. "For the league, Roma are also in the run," declared the former Lazio player. "Roma played very well, just like Milan and Juventus. However, we can't draw any conclusions yet. "Roma surprised me positively as they played an exceptional game," he continued. "I thought that Palermo could do something more. A 2-0 away from home on such a pitch is the confirmation of how good the team is." On the other hand, Oddo was disappointed with Napoli. "I expected more from Napoli. I did not think that they would lose the first match in Serie A." Milan will face Sevilla on Friday night for the final of the European Super Cup. "With regards to the Super Cup, we obviously want to win. It's an important competition and it's the first trophy we can lift this year. "We're fine and we have proved this even on Sunday when we succeeded in managing our strengths. Ronaldo is fine and even Emerson is training with the group." Goal.com Galliani: Adriano Is A No-Go AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has ruled out a rossoneri move for troubled Inter forward Adriano... Adriano Galliani claims that AC Milan won't be making an approach for Inter forward Adriano. The Brazilian striker could be on his way out of the nerazzurri squad, having failed to make the lineup for the season opener against Udinese. What's more, Inter coach Roberto Mancini claims that the player could be set to leave the club before the transfer window closes on Friday evening. But Galliani, vice-president at Milan, has ruled out an approach for the man they call L'Imperatore. "Signing Adriano is just a dream because I think nowadays a great champion can’t move between Milan and Inter." "We have 10 Brazilians in our squad and they are all friends with Adriano, but let’s leave him and Inter in peace just as we ask to be left when there is speculation surounding our players," he said. Adriano was offered a chance to return to Parma on loan, but refused, allegedly due to the Ducali's failure to qualify for European football last season. Since then, he's been linked with clubs big and small across Europe, including several in the English Premier League, but has yet to arrange an escape from the San Siro. It may be that he opts to remain with the narazzurri and fight his way back into the side. While he's heavily out of favour at the moment, should Inter fail to rack up a win next week - having already lost the Supercoppa and drawn against Udinese in Serie A - he could suddenly find himself back in contention. | Quote Carletto rests star trio Milan boss Carlo Ancelotti has decided to rest three key players for the Rossoneri’s trip to Siena’s Stadio Artemio Franchi tomorrow. The Diavolo are overwhelming favourites to take maximum points from a struggling Robur side that have lost their first two games this term. Despite the insistence of Bianconeri boss Andrea Mandorlini that his side can test Ancelotti’s men if they learn to take their chances, the visitors will take a weakened side. Ancelotti is keen to rest his stars so that he can field his strongest 11 as the European champions begin the defence of their title against Benfica in midweek. Brazilian ace Kaka and Azzurri regulars Andrea Pirlo and Massimo Oddo won’t feature in Tuscany and can put their feet up ahead of Tuesday’s San Siro encounter against the Portuguese giants. Milan (probable): Dida; Bonera, Nesta, Kaladze, Jankulovski; Gattuso, Emerson, Brocchi, Seedorf; Inzaghi, Gilardino Channel 4
