| Player Ratings: Spain 1-0 Italy Carlo Garganese rates the players on show in tonight’s international friendly from the Luis Valero di Elche Stadium. Buffon – 7.5: One brilliant save from Torres in the first half, as well as two smart stops from Fabregas. Also prevented Spain adding a second with his late save from Villa. Could do nothing on Villa's wonder-goal. Panucci - 6.5: The 35-year-old completely neutralized the threat of David Silva, and was a danger from set-pieces. Should have scored when he headed over from just yards out. Cannavaro – 7: The Real Madrid man was simply perfect for 78 minutes, and made one miraculous tackle on Torres in the first half. However he made a slight error on Spain's goal, even if he couldn't have foreseen Villa to execute a volley that brought back memories of Zinedine Zidane against Bayer Leverkusen in 2002. Materazzi - 6: Has been dreadful for Inter in recent weeks, but tonight he sound. Won everything in the air, and made one brilliant tackle following Buffon’s save from Torres. Subbed at half time. Grosso – 7: Bombed up-and-down the left flank all night, even if he occasionally let himself down with his final ball. Created the chance when Camoranesi hit the crossbar. De Rossi: 5: Perhaps Italy's biggest disappointment on the night. De Rossi gave the ball away far too often, and was lazy at times. I would say he was saving himself for Roma. Pirlo – 6: Has looked very tired for Milan recently, but he held his own tonight, and sprayed some nice passes around. Also provided the cross for Toni’s goal that was disallowed. Perrotta – 6: Battled hard as always. Lots of quantity, even if there was not too much quality. However his workrate came in very useful. Camoranesi – 8.5: Easily the best player on the pitch, and worryingly the only player Italy have (in Donadoni's current squad) who is capable of beating his man for skill. Hit the crossbar with a wonderful shot, and just minutes before Spain scored, he went past three defenders before being denied by a brilliant Casillas save. Di Natale – 6.5: Excellent at times in the first half, causing Spain headaches with his pace. Disappeared somewhat after the interval. Toni - 6: Impressed early in the game, and looked like he was going to cause the Spanish all kinds of problems. Faded after having a goal controversially disallowed, and was replaced at the break.
